Despite being a clematis, this is actually more of a mounded perennial than a vine, with pretty white star-shaped flowers over the summer atop a dense mass of deep green foliage; give a hard pruning to the ground in spring for best results
Ground Clematis features airy panicles of lightly-scented white star-shaped flowers at the ends of the stems in early summer. Its compound leaves remain dark green in color throughout the season. The fruit is not ornamentally significant.
Ground Clematis is a dense herbaceous perennial with a mounded form. Its relatively fine texture sets it apart from other garden plants with less refined foliage.

Ground Clematis will grow to be about 3 feet tall at maturity, with a spread of 3 feet. It grows at a fast rate, and under ideal conditions can be expected to live for approximately 10 years.
This plant does best in full sun to partial shade. It is very adaptable to both dry and moist growing conditions, but will not tolerate any standing water. It is not particular as to soil type or pH. It is highly tolerant of urban pollution and will even thrive in inner city environments. This species is not originally from North America.
